On May 3, 2021 we departed Sint Maartin for Great Inagua in the Bahamas along with Lori and Brian on Never Forever who had never been in the islands. Within hours of departure our autohelm linear drive motor failed so we were forced to hand steer Skylark overnight and briefly stop in St Thomas. Fortunately we had purchased a new linear drive having heard how often autohelm components fail. A quick install of the new linear drive had us back on track for the Bahamas.

A must see destination on Long Island is Deans Blue Hole
which we had visited in 2014 while cruising on Kuivato. It was a spiritual
experience and we were anxious to show it to Lori and Brian. However, this time
around we were appalled by all of the trash on the surrounding beach as well as small plastic bags and plastic bits floating in the water throughout the blue hole. So disappointing. We
did our part to do some cleanup and filled a trash bag with garbage found on
the beach. We were told the small plastic bags had contained water sent to Haiti from the United State's as part the earthquake relief supplies. Now the bags are plastic trash along Bahamian shorelines. |

The crew of Skylark looking very happy. Thanks
to Brian on Never Forever for the picture. |

After taking the crew of Never Forever on a fabulous three week whirlwind tour of the Bahamas we were ready to make an overnight passage back to the US. Our last anchorage was in Charlottesvile Bay along the north coast of New Providence Island where the sand ripples on the bottom in 11 feet of crystal water looked amazing. This was a great jumping off point for our sail back to the US.
