Preparations prior to departure

Wow, what a wild and crazy ride it's been these last few weeks. The preparations have been very exciting, scary and wonderful, sometimes all wrapped up in the same day. My neighborhood girlfriends hosted a fabulous Bon Voyage party complete with Jimmy Buffett playing in the background while we feasted on tasty fresh local foods. Thougtful regifts were shared including my own little flask in case I should need it during our next 6 months at sea, thank you Donna!
The "gyne" girls went all out with their own delicious potluck , tender card and desserts that lasted the week. I am really blessed with patients who spoke of their appreciation, but I wonder if they worry I might not return!
I am blessed to be surrounded by supportive loving friends and family who believe this is a wonderful adventure for Tim and me. I am looking forward to learning lots in the coming months about myself dealing with a different pulse to my day, learning to live aboard with Tim and anxiously looking forward to becoming a sailor who anticipates.
Our Bon voyage party here on Badger's Island was a hoot, and lasted 9 1/2 hours, I guess it was getting us prepared to do our night time watches. Thank you to all for the wonderful leftovers, we are grateful.
Last week with filled with many many hours of cleaning and moving out of the cottage for Jim, our renter to enjoy the next 6 months in our little haven. "Stuff" was moved from the cottage to the deck, then to the dock and now most everything is on the dock on in the cockpit. Slowly we are getting closer and closer to the boat.
We have been fortunate to have sunny warm fall days and are learning not to listen to the local forecasts, as they have been inaccurate the entire week, thank goodness!
